Nothing says ‘Summer’ like The Sun! And nothing says ‘The Sun’ like Yellow!
Yellow, my favourite colour (favourite shade being Canary Yellow), is brightness and cheer. Seen Safe Haven with Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough? In the movie, she asks a little girl what a happy colour is and she says ‘Yellow…’ She couldn’t have said it better!
Yellow’s great, but too much of it can get boring. Here’s where the perfect complimentary colour comes in… Royal/Cobalt Blue! The two look amazing together, just like my favourite celeb (actually, royal) couple, Will and Kate.
Mix and match the two colours to create a perfect, bright summer soiree. Here’s an inspiration board to prove it.
The Bridesmaids Dresses
Same philosophy as the bridesmaids dresses. Any of the amazing colours will work. In fact, for the traditional bride, the ‘something blue’ phrase can be fulfilled by some foot candy!
The Flowers (Bouquets and Boutonnieres)
You should arrange with your florist to incorporate both colours into your wedding florals
Amazing bouquet by Accents and Petals
Oh yeah, don’t forget the fellas!
Those bow ties and boutonnieres… Spot on!
All The Other Things
Now you can play! Adding little elements of canary and cobalt here and there, will complete and perfect your summer wedding. You can go for a yellow cake with blue accents…
Use decorative block table numbers or words pertaining to love and marriage, here and there on the tables…
Order wedding stationery (e.g. save-the-dates) in designs with yellow and blue
Serve the guests some colourful confectionery…
Wedding cake with blue velvet interior?
Lemon Macarons… YUM!
Finally… Nigerian Brides, for that traditional wedding, wouldn’t you love if you just looked like this!!
